Nintendo Direct is Out!! 1.11.2018
The Nintendo Direct that so many have been waiting for is finally out, however it is a mini direct, not a full direct, regardless, it showed a good line up of games and DLC coming out for the first quarter of the year, some of the DLC is even free. Though many of the games shown in the direct are ports from the WiiU and other consoles, there were also new titles shown. Not all of these games will appeal to everyone, there is at least a decent variety of titles coming, so there should be something for everyone to be looking forward too.
There were of coarse pros and cons to the direct, if you were expecting a bunch of sneak peaks on newer titles, then prepare to be disappointed, I personally was really hoping they would have shown some small footage of Metroid Prime 4, Chances are they are holding off showing big titles until E3, there were also games like Outlast 1, Outlast 2 and Wolfenstein 2 that were not mentioned, so I guess we will have to wait longer for more information on those release dates, I personally have held off getting Wolfenstein 2, in hopes that it will make it’s way on the Switch, as that would be a fun game to take on the go, so fingers crossed that it comes out soon.
I personally expected more from this Nintendo Direct, I think it is great that Nintendo is bringing out more WiiU ports, seeing as many missed out on games such as Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Hyrule warriors Ultimate Edition, due to the lack of WiiU sales, Hyrule Warriors is being released with all DLC content from both the 3DS and WiiU, which is great, you now do not have to own both version of the game to play all the content, I will most likely purchase Hyrule warriors this time around, it will definitely be a fun game to take on the go, also a feature is being added where you can play co-op on the same screen, which any multiplayer game should have to begin with.
I will probably be skipping Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, I already have it for the WiiU and the only new addition to it is a new playable character Funky Kong, I like Funky Kong, however, his abilities are way too over powered from what I saw on the direct, tropical Freeze is already relatively easy, not nearly as challenging as previous games, Funky Kong is basically going to take away any challenge the game did have, though it is your choice to use him, he is basically all characters combined into one, at least that is how Nintendo made it look. Tropical Freeze would definitely be fun to take on the go, so if you do not have it, I would recommend getting it.
Overall, the Nintendo Direct did not have any amazing announcements, a lot of the titles are filler, giving time for bigger releases to make its way on the console and there is nothing wrong with that, some of these titles are giving consumers a second chance to purchase a game that they may have previously missed out on, or to allow them to take some of their favorite games on the go. Personally, I am looking forward to Kirby Star Allies, Hyrule Warriors Ultimate Edition and Dark Souls remastered.
Did you enjoy the Mini Direct? What games are you looking forward to?
