F2P Nintendo Switch Games May Not Require Online Subscription
Many Nintendo Switch owners may be happy to hear that F2P games such as Fortnite may not require an online subscription. As many already know – playing Nintendo Switch games online is currently free, that will all change come September, Nintendo will be launching their paid online service in September of 2018. Nintendo Switch owners will be required to pay the small fee of $20 a year in order to still access online capabilities, so if you want to play games such as Splatoon 2, you will need to pay for the subscription.
There has been a discover however, a member on Reset era named ggx2ac has posted his findings, which I will post below:
If you go to the eShop, and look at an online game like Minecraft, it will have something like this in the fine print:
“To use online services you must have access to a wireless internet connection. Some online services may not be available in all countries. From the full launch of the Nintendo Switch Online membership service in 2018, online play requires a paid membership.”
Lots of retail games with online play have that fine print.
However, if you look at the following free to play games:
Dawn of the Breakers
Galak-Z: Variant S
The Pinball Arcade
None of them have that fine print.
So could it be that Nintendo is going to keep F2P completely free?
