DK Tropical Freeze Should Come With DK Returns In A Bundle
When Donkey Kong Country – Tropical Freeze was released on the Wii U back in 2014, it received generally positive reviews from critics, praising it for its level designs, boss battles, “stellar” soundtracks and its challenging levels. Tropical Freeze did however get some negative feedback – mainly criticized for the lack of levels compared to its predecessor (Donkey Kong Country Returns)—some levels being much shorter then many would expect.
Good and bad reviews aside, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was a solid game, and even with its short comings it stuck true to its roots. It may not have been on par with Donkey Kong Country returns Wii or the Original Donkey Kong Country for Super Nintendo, but it was still a great addition to the series. It deserved more sales then it got on the Wii U, largely because of the poor Wii U sales—a lot of great titles did not stand a chance because of the Wii U sales.
Putting Donkey Kong Country – Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch is giving the title a second chance – it is giving those who did not own a Wii U a chance to play it. However, what about those who already owned it on the Wii U? What reason would we have to purchase Tropical Freeze again? As great of a title as it is, many of us may prefer to hold off for a new Donkey Kong title to make its way on the Switch.
Bundling [Donkey Kong Country Returns] with Tropical Freeze would be a great incentive for many of us to consider purchasing the game again, possibly attracting a newer audience to the platformer at the same time, which could help to boost sales for the next Donkey Kong game being made (assuming there is one). Donkey Kong Country Returns was released back in 2010 on the Wii, 2013 on the 3DS and 2016 on the Wii U eShop, which means its exposure has been quite limited as of late, the Nintendo Switch has the potential to attract a new audience, what better then to give [named] and old audience the chance to play 2 Donkey Kong titles for the price of one?
The Nintendo Switch is selling incredibly well, so since Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is being given a second chance then let’s throw Donkey Kong Country Returns in there with a bundle, Nintendo! Take a small loss in money, open Donkey Kong up for a newer audience and give those of us who own Tropical Freeze a reason to repurchase it!
What are you thoughts? Do you plan on purchasing Tropical Freeze for the Switch?
