Capcom Has No Plans to Port Resident Evil 2 Remake TO Nintendo Switch
Well, it comes at no surprise, Capcom has stated that they have no plans “at this time” to port the Resident Evil 2 remake to the Nintendo Switch. The remake was showcased at E3 2018 and many wanted answers on whether it would be coming to the Switch. Brand Manager Mike Lunn for Capcom stated that ” they just wanted to focus on the PS4, Xbox One and PC at the moment”.
Let’s be honest, do we really want Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo Switch? knowing Capcom’s business practices – I wouldn’t bet on it. There is a good chance that the Switch will have the game ported over in the near future when it is released, however, it will probably be a game that requires you to play online only as that seems to be Capcom’s new lazy way of porting games to the Switch. Even if it was not a streaming game only, the file size would be huge, which would still be unappealing for many.
Personally I am not disappointed with the news, I generally stay away from Capcom games now days as I am tired of their business practices. I am more hyped for what Bethesda is doing with the Nintendo Switch, they are actually supporting the system, which is a smart move – there is very little competition. Let the other companies lose out on the profits.
I do not mean to trash the Resident Evil series as a whole, there is many great titles in the series, Resident Evil 2 being one of them, So I hope all that purchase this game next year enjoy it!
